A member portal should reduce questions about status and documents. We map what a member can view or change, which actions need staff approval and where the authoritative membership record lives.
Build around membership work
A first release might show renewal status, allow contact detail updates and provide role-appropriate documents. We separate member, staff and administrator permissions so a convenient interface does not grant unnecessary access.
Renewal reminders, payment status and access rules need explicit ownership. A failed payment should not silently erase a record, and a staff correction should leave a useful history. Integrations depend on the supported interfaces of your membership or finance tools.
Test with real situations
Prepare examples for an active member, a lapsed member, a duplicate email and a member whose organisation changes. Use fictional records in previews. Handover should explain account recovery, staff intervention and how content is updated without a developer.
