Understand the failure before replacing the system.

Imagine a membership application whose public pages still work after a hosting change, while staff can no longer correct a lapsed member's renewal. That is a repair question worth isolating. The timing suggests somewhere to investigate; it does not prove that PHP, the host or a provider caused the failure.

Reproduce the staff task safely

We agree the affected role, the action attempted and the result that should have followed. With appropriate source, configuration and log access, we reproduce the correction using fictional records in an isolated environment where practicable. Public-page availability is checked separately from the authenticated staff path.

Separate the application from its dependencies

The application may save a change but fail to send a message, or display an uncertain result from a renewal provider. We distinguish those observations before proposing a fix. Missing access, an unavailable test account or an unreproduced fault remains an explicit investigation limit. We do not promise a cause from a screenshot or assume that a runtime upgrade explains every failure.

Choose a bounded next step

A repair proposal names the proven behaviour to change, the neighbouring checks and the recovery approach. For this example, acceptance would revisit the original renewal correction, check an ordinary member's permitted view and confirm that unrelated records remain inaccessible. If evidence is insufficient, the next deliverable can be further investigation; if the application cannot reasonably be maintained, we explain the replacement decision separately.

Handover records the relevant configuration, dependencies and checks. Read what to collect before a PHP repair, and discuss ongoing maintenance once the failing task is understood.

A GOOD PLACE TO START

One task. One clear next step.
